Do I Need an Actor Website?

Jan 15, 2023

In today's digital age in which all actors are required to be renaissance folks, having a website is a must for any actor looking to showcase their talents and build their personal brand. Many agents and managers agree that Actors Access is the main tool they need. From my perspective, however, here are just a few reasons why actors need a website:

  1. Control over your image: How many times have you searched for yourself only to be met with random photos and links that... aren't what you would want folks to see first? Having a website allows actors to control the way you're represented online, rather than leaving it to the mercy of social media algorithms or "Googling yourself." You control what people see and how they see it.
  2. Online presence: A website is the perfect platform for actors to establish an online presence and make your work visible to a wider audience. This includes casting agents, directors, producers, and fans. Having all of your other social and casting sites point back to your website allows for it to be a central hub.
  3. Showcasing your work: A website is the perfect place for you to showcase your clips, headshots, and other materials that demonstrate your special skills, talents, and abilities all in one place. Certain casting sites allow for this info but they show it within their own design. With a website, you get to choose how your brand is represented, always.

  4. Networking: A website can also serve as a networking tool, connecting actors with other industry professionals and fans. A major Call To Action for an actor website is to have contact forms at the bottom of every page to ensure that people make a commitment to moving past the digital world into the world of communication and networking.

  5. Personal Branding: A website is a great way to build and promote an actor's personal brand. Actors can use their website to share their story, express their personality, and connect with their audience. We get to simultaneously see behind the curtain and see the fonts, colors, and aesthetic that connects your website, resume, social media, and more.

If you're looking for a cost-effective way to build the hub of your brand, we've built a course called "How to Build an Actor Website Using Wix." It is a step-by-step series of tutorials, strategies, examples, and downloadable resources to get you from start to launch with a mobile-friendly, SEO-ready professional actor website.
